Sumbawanga is a small town in Western Tanzania between Lake Rukwa and Lake Tanganyika, near the border with Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2013 our Pastor, from Settle Christian Fellowship, found a group of 20 boys sleeping on the street . They were hungry, dirty and in need of care and our Pastor made a decision that we must do something to help them. During our trips out there we fed them, provided soap for them to wash, taught them about Jesus, rented a house and provided a young pastor to care for them. We taught them to read and write, provided computers and sewing machines for them to learn new skills. They now go to school and we have bought a house so they have a permanent home. Many have come to faith in Jesus and are young evangelists telling others how Jesus has transformed their lives. They are growing some of their food and are a witness in their community. We pray for them and continue to support them , they rescue other children from the streets and we thank God for them. He has all the Glory.
Below various pictures - the original find of children on the streets now in school uniforms. The market in Sumbawanga, the crops on the edge of town and tables waiting for collection for children to work at.
